Let Go of the Outcome, Hold Fast to Obedience

This week, I tried recording a video several times—and nothing went as planned. I kept getting distracted, interrupted, and, honestly, a little frustrated. But maybe that’s exactly the point.

Sometimes we need the gentle reminder: the outcome isn’t ours to control.

In 1 Corinthians 3:5–9, Paul reminds us that some are called to plant, others to water—but God is the one who gives the growth.

That truth is both freeing and humbling.

If you're anything like me, you've probably felt the weight of someone else’s spiritual progress—or discouragement over your own. It’s easy to start believing that growth (or the lack of it) is a reflection of us. But Scripture doesn't ask us to carry that pressure.

We are invited to be co-laborers with Christ, not the ones responsible for making seeds grow.

So if you’re feeling weary—maybe burdened by where a loved one is spiritually, or feeling stuck in your own walk with God—pause for a moment.

Take a breath.

You are not the Savior.
You are not the source.
Your role is obedience.
The results belong to the Lord.

It’s one of the most tender, freeing truths in the Christian life: you don’t have to make things happen. You just have to keep showing up in faith.

I share more about this in a recent YouTube video linked below, where I walk through this passage and what it means to trust God with the outcome. If you’d like to reflect more deeply, I also posted a few gentle reflection questions on Instagram—find them at @goodsoilcoaching.

So take heart. Keep planting. Keep watering. Keep being faithful in the small things. And above all—keep trusting the Gardener.

He sees you.
